Shaker Heights

Shaker Heights is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the city population was 28,448. It is an inner-ring streetcar suburb of Cleveland located on the East Side of Cleveland along Shaker Boulevard and roughly abutting Beverly Hills and Chagrin Falls Township. Also, it is home to Hawken School, historic architecture downtown including several buildings by prominent American architect Charles Franklin Sparrell, and the RTA Rapid Transit Blue Line running down Van Aken Blvd.

Shaker Heights has one of the most active and vibrant downtown areas in Cuyahoga County. The Shaker Heights Chamber of Commerce has over 500 members and is a key part of the business community. The Shaker Heights Development Corporation (SHDC) is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership that was formed in 1991 to stimulate economic development in the city. SHDC has successfully attracted new businesses to the city, including Marriott Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, Dave’s Supermarkets, Regal Cinemas Shaker Square Stadium 18, Bed Bath & Beyond, and many others.

Thornton Park is one of Shaker Heights’ most popular destinations for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
