Walkable streets, an excellent selection of schools, a cozy suburban atmosphere, and close distance to the beautiful Lake Erie and vibrant urban amenities make this small city an ideal place for people of all ages. With a population of over 22,000, the city is located just outside of Cleveland’s western border, where the winding Rocky River empties into Lake Erie. After the first permanent settlers arrived in 1805, the area prospered as an agricultural community. It was known as Rockport Township for decades before being incorporated as a hamlet in 1893. In 1903 it officially became the village of Rocky River. More new settlers poured in and by 1932 Rocky River was incorporated as a city. As growth continued and spread throughout, the city greatly benefitted from neighboring Cleveland’s economic development. Today, Rocky River is a booming city with a wide variety of residential properties and enjoyable water-based activities. It’s widely considered as part of the top 10 places best to live in the Cleveland metro area and ranked #11 in Niche.com’s Places With the Best Public Schools in Ohio.
