Small town living with a big heart

Claridon is a community in Claridon Township, one of 16 townships in Geauga County. This small and unassuming town takes pride in “being caring, hardworking, faithful, and loyal”. Events like Memorial Day March, Trash Pick-Up Day for Seniors, and the annual Get Down with the Town celebration create many opportunities to meet new people and contribute to the community. Several charities like Claridon Community Helps, Red Tulip Project of Geauga, and Geauga Faith Rescue Mission operate within the community. Formerly known as Burlington, the community is located west of East Claridon and southeast of Chardon. It traces its origins back to 1819, when a post office of the same name was founded.

The community encompasses approximately 22 miles and is home to a population of 3,209 based on 2020 census estimates. Claridon’s wooded setting lends itself well to outdoor recreation. Residents have access to green spaces like the Claridon Woodlands, Claridon Recreation Park, and Claridon Corner Park. These parks feature bike trails, playgrounds, rock climbing, sports courts, picnic areas, and other facilities for guests to enjoy. Claridon is served by the Berkshire Local School District and Chardon Local School District. Residents have access to local branches of the Burton Public Library and the Geauga County Public Library. Town Hall rentals are available for gatherings.
