A town with an interesting story

Once upon a time, Hiram Township was the home of the Church of Christ (Latter Day Saints). This happened back in the early 19th century when John Johnson, Sr. invited Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saints, to come and live with them in their Hiram Township farm.

Over the next few years, several key figures of the church came and went to the Johnsons' property (called John Johnson Farm) in the southwest section of Hiram Township. These people included Sidney Rigdon and Orson Hyde. Today, the historic John Johnson Farm is on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to guided tours.

Quiet and predominantly residential

Hiram Township is mostly a tight-knit, residential community with numerous farms located all over the area. For dining and retail options, the village of Garrettsville is just southwest of the township along State and South Streets.

Some things to do in Hiram Township include playing tee times at nearby Sugar Bush Golf Club. Monroe's Orchard near the center of the community offers seasonal activities (like strawberry pickings every summer) as well as farm-fresh produce.
