Best known for the Tallmadge Circle, one of the most iconic landmarks in Northeast Ohio, this idyllic city located 35 miles southeast of Cleveland harbors a wealth of historic structures and prime real estate. A suburb of Akron, Tallmadge straddles Summit and Portage counties with the vast portion of the city located within the former and some sections of its eastern side extending into the latter. It encompasses 14 to 17 square miles and is home to a population of 17,519 as of the 2019 census. Founded in 1807 by Reverend David Bacon, Tallmadge is the second oldest city in Summit County. Local attractions include Tallmadge Circle, a four-acre community park; Tallmadge Church Historic Site, an architectural landmark built in 1825; and Heaven Bound Ascensions, which organizes hot air balloon flights over the city. The city has more than 100 acres of recreational trails and green spaces, including the Freedom Trail, Jaycee Howe Road Park, Kent Drive Park, Lions Park, Maca Park, Memorial Park, and Washburn-Indian Hills Park. The Tallmadge Meadows Area provides access to the Meadow Loop and Meadow Trail for hiking and cycling.
