Portage - Brady Lake

Brady Lake makes lakefront living possible in Portage County. It's located along the eastern shoreline of the eponymous Brady Lake, which adds mystique and allure to this heavily treed unincorporated community.

Before Brady Lake became an unincorporated community and a census-designated place, it used to be a summer resort area in the late 19th century and eventually a village. That all changed in 2017, when residents voted for the dissolution of this status, bringing Brady Lake back within the fold of Franklin Township.

Today, Brady Lake spans nearly half a square mile between Kent-Ravenna Road and Brady Lake Road. It's part of the Greater Akron area, with Akron approximately 17 miles southwest of the community. Over 400 people reside in Brady Lake, enjoying its lakeside setting and proximity to Kent, the county seat.

Below are a couple of reasons why Brady Lake is a top place to live in Northeast Ohio:

Close to nature and city life

Brady Lake offers that perfect balance between city living and access to the great outdoors without any of the stress. The community is located right between Kent and Ravenna— two bustling urban centers in Portage County—while Akron is roughly a 30-minute drive away.

As for nature, residents find respite in several destinations near Brady Lake. These include Hidden Valley Campground and Towner's Woods, both located in nearby Ravenna. Towner's Woods in particular is a dreamscape no matter the season; it features over 240 acres of woodlands for hiking and, come winter, cross-country skiing.

Well-connected

Brady Lake may seem removed at times, but it's actually easily accessible. Kent-Ravenna Road and Brady Lake Road, which serves as the community's south and north borders, connect to a few other major highways. These include Haymaker Parkway, OH-261, and OH-59, to name a few. Since it's so well-connected, out-of-town trips are easy to make from Brady Lake.
