Life is sweet in the small village of Sugar Bush Knolls. Located in northwest Portage County, the community covers less than a square mile, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with its serene surroundings. Lakes abound in the area; there are two in Sugar Bush Knolls and more just beyond its boundaries.

Sugar Bush Knolls is bordered by Kent to the south and Streetsboro to the north, with the Cleveland-Canton Road connecting these communities. The local population is close-knit with only over 200 residents living in the village. Low-density and peaceful, Sugar Bush Knolls is the answer to those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of big-city living.

Here are a few more reasons why Sugar Bush Knolls may be an ideal place to life:

Everyone knows everyone

There are no strangers in Sugar Bush Knolls. And if there are any newcomers, they will be part of the community in no time at all. The village comprises only 83 individual residences, spread across nine streets that ribbon through the community.

One reason behind this tight-knit community is Sugar Bush Knolls' history. The village used to be a nursery and tree farm owned by the Davey Tree Company back in the 1920s. When Martin Davey died in 1948, arrangements were made to turn the sugar maple tree farm into a village.

A bevy of water and land activities

For a village this small, residents of Sugar Bush Knolls have a plethora of outdoor activities located a short distance from their homes. For one, boating and swimming is allowed in the two man-made lakes inside the village— several docks are scattered along the shoreline. Twin Lakes, located just outside Sugar Bush Knolls, is a much larger reservoir and a popular fishing spot among locals.

Also not far from Sugar Bush Knolls is The Fairways at Twin Lakes in neighboring Kent. It's home to a nine-hole signature golf course designed by Sandy Alves back in 1923.
